Bambu Lab tariff refund? None announced as of Oct. 16, 2026, plus the US price record and the 170% duty peak on China-made 3D printers

As of Oct. 16, 2026, Bambu Lab has not announced any tariff refund or credit for US customers, and we found no such announcement from Prusa, Flashforge, Elegoo or Creality either. The refunds that followed the Supreme Court's Feb. 20, 2026 IEEPA ruling are paid by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to the importer of record, the company that cleared the goods through customs, not to the person who bought the printer.

Who gets the IEEPA tariff refunds

On Feb. 20, 2026 the Supreme Court decided Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump (No. 24-1287) and held: "IEEPA does not authorize the President to impose tariffs." The majority opinion does not set out a refund process. In dissent, Justice Kavanaugh wrote: "The Court says nothing today about whether, and if so how, the Government should go about returning the billions of dollars that it has collected from importers."

The same day, Executive Order 14389 ("Ending Certain Tariff Actions," 91 FR 9437) said the IEEPA duties "shall no longer be in effect and, as soon as practicable, shall no longer be collected." CBP's bulletin CSMS #67834313 (sent Feb. 22, 2026) set the cutoff at goods entered on or after 12:00 a.m. Eastern time on Feb. 24, 2026, and said the order "does not affect any other duties," including Section 232 and Section 301 duties.

Refunds run through CBP's Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE) tool in the ACE Portal, a system for customs filers:

  • CSMS #68315804 (April 10, 2026) lists the steps for "Importers of Record (IORs)" and authorized customs brokers, and says: "Refunds will be consolidated by IOR or the party designated via CBP Form 4811 and liquidation date."
  • CSMS #68340863 (April 13, 2026) cites two Court of International Trade orders (Atmus Filtration, March 4, 2026, and Euro-Notions Florida, April 7, 2026) and says Phase 1 was "scheduled to deploy 8AM EDT on April 20, 2026."
  • CSMS #68396594 (April 20, 2026) announced that Phase 1 was live.
  • CSMS #69066837 (June 29, 2026) announced that CAPE now also handles entries flagged for reconciliation; it says the requirements from the first phase remain in effect.

The bulletins describe filing by importers of record and their brokers. They describe no claim process for people who bought imported goods from a seller. Whether a seller passes any refund on to its customers is up to the seller, and none of the five brands below has published such a plan.

Two user posts on Bambu Lab's forum discuss tariff refunds; neither is an official statement. On April 23, 2026 a user posted what they said was a reply from Bambu Lab support: "Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund or store credit regarding the tariff matter." In July 2026 another user wrote that support asked them for a tax-exempt certificate. We could not verify either message. After the May 2025 price cut, users also quoted a support-chat message offering gift cards for the price difference on some printer and AMS orders; that text is not on a Bambu Lab page we could find.

Bambu Lab's US prices: the dated record

We found no Bambu Lab page with model-by-model figures for its 2025 increases. The figures below come from press reports where no Bambu page states them. Some forum users have built their own before-and-after tables; those are user-compiled and are not used here.

The duties on a China-made 3D printer, 2025 to 2026

Prusa's help center lists HS code 84852000 for "All printers". In the US tariff schedule, 8485.20.00 covers additive manufacturing "By plastics or rubber deposit" and has a normal (general) duty of 3.1%. It is also on the Section 301 List 1 product list (HTS heading 9903.88.01, U.S. note 20(b) to Chapter 99), which adds 25% for products of China. How a specific printer is classified is up to the importer and CBP.

Additional duties on a product of China under HTS 8485.20.00, on top of the 3.1% normal duty. Checked 2026-10-16. Sources: Executive Orders 14195, 14228, 14266, 14298 and 14357; CSMS #67834313; Proclamation of Feb. 20, 2026 (91 FR 9339); USTR notice 91 FR 47318; USITC HTS Chapter 99 (2025 Revision 10 and 2026 Revision 21). Several of these orders had separate rules for goods already in transit on the change date. The reciprocal rate on China also passed through 34% and 84% in the days before April 10, 2025 (not shown).

The 170% figure is the sum of three duties that applied together. HTS U.S. note 2(v)(i) said goods under the reciprocal headings "shall also be subject to any additional duty provided for in this subchapter", and 8485.20.00 was not on the reciprocal exemption list in 2025 Revision 10. With the 3.1% normal duty, the total was 173.1% of customs value. Tom's Hardware's April 21, 2025 report cited a 145% tariff on Chinese-made goods, a figure that leaves out the 25% Section 301 duty.

Executive Order 14298 set the reciprocal rate on China at 10% from 12:01 a.m. EDT on May 14, 2025. Executive Order 14357 cut the drug-related rate "from 20 percent to 10 percent, effective November 10, 2025." Executive Order 14358 later extended the reciprocal suspension to November 2026, but all IEEPA duties stopped being collected on Feb. 24, 2026, so that date no longer applies.

The Section 122 surcharge was "a temporary import surcharge of 10 percent ad valorem," effective Feb. 24, 2026, for 150 days. The HTS notes say it "expired at the close of July 23, 2026." From 12:01 a.m. Eastern time on July 24, 2026, USTR's forced-labor action (91 FR 47318) added 12.5% on products of China (HTS 9903.05.31) on top of the 25% List 1 duty. Products of a European Union member state are treated differently: for goods with a normal duty under 10%, the Section 301 duty tops the total up to 10%.

What we could not confirm

  • Any 2025 Bambu Lab store price from an archived page. We did not use the Internet Archive, so the only 2025 before-and-after figures here are the H2D figures reported by Tom's Hardware and 3D Printing Industry.
  • An early-2025 Bambu Lab increase of about 3% that All3DP reported; the article returned an error (403) when we tried to read it.
  • Whether Bambu Lab, or any brand here, has filed for or received a CBP refund. We found no public record of refunds by company.
  • CBP's own refund page on cbp.gov, which blocked our automated reading (403). We relied on CBP's CSMS bulletins instead.
  • A further CAPE expansion, which law firms report was scheduled for Oct. 6, 2026; we did not find a CBP bulletin confirming it.
  • Whether Prusa still adds a US tariff charge after Feb. 24, 2026. Its help page still describes the August 2025 15% tariff and does not name the legal basis.
  • Official tariff or refund statements from Elegoo and Creality. We searched their US store pages and the web and found none.

Questions

Is Bambu Lab giving tariff refunds?
Bambu Lab had not announced a tariff refund or credit for customers as of Oct. 16, 2026. Its standing 30-day price protection pays price drops on labeled items as a gift card. That policy is not tied to tariffs.
Do consumers get tariff refunds?
CBP's CAPE refunds go to importers of record or the party they designate on CBP Form 4811. CBP's bulletins describe no claim process for people who bought imported goods from a seller.
Is Prusa giving tariff refunds?
We found no refund announcement from Prusa. Its help center still says that from Aug. 7, 2025 a 15% tariff applies to US-bound orders and is included in the price when paid through Global-E.
What is the tariff code for a 3D printer?
Prusa lists 84852000 for all its printers. In the US schedule, 8485.20.00 is "By plastics or rubber deposit", with a 3.1% normal duty and a 25% Section 301 duty for products of China.
Did the Bambu Lab X2D price increase?
No. Bambu Lab's US store listed the X2D at $649 and the X2D Combo at $899 on Oct. 16, 2026, the same as the launch prices in its April 14, 2026 blog post.
